About

This resource guide was created to help teachers, librarians and instructors engage their students with Art Books. These resources were curated so that educators can scaffold engagement of Art Books with student groups. The goal of the discussion guide is to provide a point of entry to A.R.T. resources for educators.

Distribution to Underserved Communities (DUC) endows over 650 public schools and libraries nationwide with a yearly average of 24,000 free books on contemporary art and culture, placing nearly 400,000 books in 7,000 institutions since the program’s founding in 1987.  D.U.C. books are donated by a roster of over 300 publishing arts institutions (including major museums such as the Whitney; university presses; galleries such as Luhring Augustine and David Zwirner; and independent nonprofits such as Siglio and Half Letter Press).  To date, D.U.C. books are available in over 18% of public libraries nationwide; and 38% of public libraries and 16% of public schools in NYC.
